Study on Racial Disparity in Breast Cancer Mortality Presented at Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Forum

NEW YORK, March 21, 2012 - A study released today at the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Forum, and simultaneously published in Cancer Epidemiology, found that 21 of the 25* largest U.S. cities have a black-white disparity in breast cancer mortality, 13 of which are statistically significant.

Avon Global Believe Fund Grants 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. - February 28, 2012 - To honor the company's 125th anniversary, Avon created the $2 million Avon Global Believe Fund in 2011, with grants to support women's domestic violence shelters and agencies around the world. The Avon Foundation partnered with the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) to identify and fund an international network of outstanding non-governmental organizations. In 2011, Avon gave out 16 Global Believe Fund Grants. During the 2nd World Conference of Women's Shelters, Avon awarded 10 additional grants. Each of the following agencies received a grant of $60,00 USD: NSW Women's Refuge Resource Centre (Australia); Strategic Initiatives of the Canadian Women's Foundation; Hogar de Cristo Foundation (Chile); CERFAMI (Integrated Resource Centre for the Family, Colombia); Maria Amor Foundation (Ecuador); WIN Hellas (Greece); National Association of the Centres Against Violence in Italy; Sensiblu Foundation (Romania); Alliance of Women in Slovakia; and International Women's Centre "La Strada Ukraine".

WASHINGTON, D.C. - February 28, 2012 - Avon Global Ambassador & Honorary Chairman of the Avon Foundation for Women Reese Witherspoon and Avon Chairman and CEO Andrea Jung today awarded four global non-governmental organizations with inaugural Avon Communications Awards for their campaigns that are bringing attention to the need to end violence against women.
